Fed: Warning on lack of exploration for mineral resources

CANBERRA, Jan 11 AAP - The geoscience community has warned the nation's valuable mineral
exports are being jeopardised by a failure to invest in more exploration.

The Australian Geoscience Council (AGC) said the federal government had to act on a
series of fronts, including improved access to land for exploration and more investment
in geoscientists, to maintain the industry.

Mineral and energy exports are worth more than $50 billion a year, or around a third
of Australia's total exports.
